MEDcury Partners with Pongsak Viddayakorn Foundation - PRINC Introducing ‘Lom Look’ New Tech Helps Detect Falls in Seniors

On March 17, 2023, MEDcury Co., Ltd., along with the Pongsak Viddayakorn Foundation, PRINC and private sector partners, launched the "Lom Look" Every Second We Care project and the "Lom Look" Smart Device for fall detection.

The project aims to provide elderly people with a wearable device that can detect falls and send alerts to their loved ones and emergency services. It will also track health data to help identify those at risk of falls. The project will initially be piloted in three provinces in Thailand such as Chiang Mai, Lampun, and Chumphon.

Former Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha and other dignitaries attended the launch event and witnessed a demonstration of the "Lom Look" Smart Device.

"Lom Look" Innovation Responding to the Needs of an Aging Society

Mr. Pawat Thanawutsirawat, Executive Relationship Director of PRINC (Principal Capital PCL), stated that a consequence of Thailand's full entry into an aging society is a rise in fatal falls among the elderly, averaging 4-5 deaths per day, with the number expected to climb further.

Falls are a common occurrence among older adults and are often more severe than falls in younger people. Falls can lead to serious injuries, such as broken hips, head fractures, and bleeding in the brain. These injuries can result in disability, bedriddenness, or even death if not treated promptly.

To reduce the severity and potential loss of life from falls among older adults, the "Lom Look" Smart Device has been developed. This device connects patients with the emergency medical services of each hospital and rescue teams through the "Doctor at Home" platform. This will ensure that elderly people who have fallen can access emergency medical services immediately.

How "Lom Look" Works

When an elderly person falls, the "Lom Look" Smart Device sends health data to registered recipients (relatives) and the "Doctor at Home" platform. This data is processed accurately and forwarded to the Emergency Response Center (Alert Center).

Mr. Pawat also stated that "The "Lom Look" Every Second We Care project is being piloted in two hospitals in the PRINC Healthcare group: PRINC Lamphun Hospital in Lamphun Province and Virajsilp Hospital in Chumphon Province. The goal is to expand the Emergency Response Center (Alert Center) to all 13 hospitals in the group in 11 provinces by 2024.

"Lom Look" Innovation to be Piloted in 3 Provinces with Service Expansion Plans

Mr. Jatuphol Chawapatnakul, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MEDcury Co., Ltd. (MEDcury), an AI and healthcare innovation company under the "Doctor at Home" platform, stated that the "Lom Look" Every Second We Care project in its first phase will open applications for eligible elderly people in the Chiang Mai, Lampun, and Chumphon provinces in Thailand around April 2023 through the website www.lomlook.com/ free of charge.

Mr.Jatupol stated that "The "Lom Look" project is currently seeking partners to expand its reach and capacity to care for and serve elderly people in different regions. These partners include investors, government agencies, private companies, hospitals, and related organizations. The goal is to ensure that older adults receive timely emergency assistance."

The "Lom Look" project can also reduce the risk of serious injuries or death for elderly people. This will lead to long-term savings for the country's public health budget. If you're interested in participating in the project, either as an individual or a private sector partner, you can find more details on their website at www.lomlook.com
